The Globe and Mail: “Legs for paraplegics, and other startups from Israel’s ‘Silicon Wadi’”

Nationally distributed Canadian newspaper, The Globe and Mail, featured OurCrowd portfolio company Argo (ReWalk) and quoted OurCrowd’s CEO Jon Medved about the unique Israeli startup ecosystem. When U.S. President Barack Obama visited Israel in March, he stopped at the Israel Museum… [and] met with seven groups of inventors whose products exemplify the best of Israeli innovation. As part of the demonstration, a paraplegic, strapped into ReWalk, a battery-operated exoskeleton suit created by Argo Medical Technologies, walked confidently around the room.   It’s relatively easy to raise money for Israeli startups because the industry has such a solid track record, Mr. Medved says.   Argo raised $1,280,000 from OurCrowd investors in June 2013. [PRESS RELEASE] Israel’s OurCrowd Launches Social Responsibility Initiative with Tmura

Jerusalem, Israel June 25, 2013:  OurCrowd, the leading equity crowdfunding platform for accredited investors, announced today that as part of its commitment to social responsibility, it will require its Israeli portfolio companies to commit a portion of their equity to Tmura – The Israeli Public Service Venture Fund. Tmura is a non-profit organization that enables early-stage companies to donate equity stocks and stock options, and the actual contribution will be realized when the company makes an “exit” or goes public.
